Johor attracted RM43bil in investment last year, state assembly told

 ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor recorded RM43bil worth of investment last year, of which RM31bil was foreign direct investment (FDI) and RM12bil, domestic direct investment (DDI), the state assembly was told.

Investment, trade, consumer affairs and human resource committee chairman Lee Ting Han said the manufacturing sector contributed more than RM9.4bil in FDI, with the main investors coming from Singapore, Taipei and the United States.

“The DDI for manufacturing is RM5.1bil and total investment for the sector was RM14bil.

Only senior Immigration officers can issue 'Not to Land' notices now, says Home Ministry

 Only immigration officers Grade KP41 and above will be allowed to issue "not to land" (NTL) notices with immediate effect, compared to the previous practice allowing KP29 officers to do so, says Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

At a press conference in Putrajaya yesterday, Saifuddin said this was part of efforts to improve the immigration department's management at the country's entry points.

He said the home ministry would also work with Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) to place more signs at the airport for the convenience of travellers to prepare the relevant documents for immigration purposes.

Travellers to and from Singapore carrying over S$20,000 must submit online declaration from May 13

 SINGAPORE (Bernama): All travellers entering or leaving Singapore carrying Physical Currency and Bearer Negotiable Instruments (CBNI) that value more than S$20,000 or its equivalent in a foreign currency, must submit the necessary declarations electronically with effect from May 13.

The Public Affairs Department of Singapore Police Force (SPF) said the current paper-based declaration will be discontinued on the same date.

New counters to ease Immigration clearance at KLIA ready by end-November

KUALA LUMPUR: The additional Immigration counters at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be completed by the end of November.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the 12 extra counters are aimed at improving the Immigration Department's services at the country's main entry point following an issue involving a visitor from China in June.
