Indonesian with 'flying passport' overstays 3 years, caught at KLIA2

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian man was detained at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA T2) for allegedly attempting to leave the country using a "flying passport."

Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) said the 33-year-old was intercepted at the departure hall around 6.30pm yesterday after immigration officers noticed suspicious security stamps in his passport during a routine inspection.

22 foreign workers nabbed in Sungai Besi factory raids

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 22 foreigners were arrested during a factory raid conducted by the Immigration Department in Sungai Besi yesterday.

Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the operation was carried out at 11am across three factory locations, resulting in the detention of 18 Indian nationals and four Bangladeshis.

He said that the individuals, aged between 23 and 48, were found to be either undocumented or holding expired travel documents.

Immigration Dept busts illegal foreign worker agency, 6 arrested

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has dismantled an illegal foreign worker agency, arresting six foreign nationals in a special operation at three locations.

The operations took place at Taman Kemuning Utama in Shah Alam, Taman Pandan Cahaya, and Jalan Datuk Eusoff in Kuala Lumpur.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the suspects, five Bangladeshis and one Pakistani, aged between 30 and 50, were detained yesterday.

Raid on factory uncovers ruse to deploy foreign workers beyond work permit

NIBONG TEBAL: The Immigration Department has exposed a tactic by agents who recruited foreign workers using permits for cleaning and construction services, but instead, deployed them as factory workers.

This deception was exposed in a joint operation conducted at a factory in Simpang Ampat here today.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said, during the operation, which began at 10.30am, 749 individuals were inspected.

He said, out of these, 307 were found to have committed various offences under the Immigration Act.
