Immigration rounds up 84 in two raids

 KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 84 people have been detained by the Immigration Department in raids on a private party in Bukit Bintang and a foreigner enclave in Brickfields.

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the raids were conducted on Saturday (Aug 6).

In the first operation, Immigration officers raided the private party, which was organised by a local.

"Most of the guests were from the African continent.

Saravanan: First group of Bangladeshi workers to be employed in manufacturing sector

 PUTRAJAYA: The first group of foreign workers from Bangladesh has arrived and will be employed in the manufacturing sector, says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

They arrived on Tuesday (Aug 9) morning.

Saravanan, however, did not mention the number of workers from Bangladesh who arrived today.

“Workers from Bangladesh are expected to arrive in Malaysia in stages beginning today.

“Last week, the Bangladesh High Commission had attested applications for workers from 80 employers involving 6,000 Bangladeshis,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 9).

Automated entry system at KLIA to be extended to foreigners

 SEPANG: Foreigners who hold long-term visit passes will not have to queue up in long lines anymore as the automated entry system (autogate) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will now be extended to them as well beginning next month, says the Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

Currently, the "autogate" system can only be used by Malaysian citizens.

Khairul Dzaimee said the system, which among others is to improve the management efficiency of foreigners entering Malaysia, can only be used depending on the type of passport held by foreigners.

No tax defaulters among expatriates

 CYBERJAYA: Records show that no expatriate workers in the country had failed to pay the taxes imposed on them, says Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

“So far none (has failed to pay taxes). They have all complied because this is one of the main requirements for them to renew their expatriate pass to continue working in the country,” he said.

He told a press conference this after a ceremony for signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Immigration Department and the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) on information sharing on expatriates here yesterday.The MOU, effective until 2025, was signed by Khairul Dzaimee and IRB chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nizom Sairi and witnessed by Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.

Immigration Dept Says Indian Travellers Were Detained As They Were Seen Loitering In KLIA

 Investigations found that the Indian travellers were seeking employment illegally as they did not have a place to stay and had limited pocket money.



It was alleged in a viral video that the travellers were being mistreated and disrespected because they were seen sitting on the floor for an "unnecessarily long time".

A woman in the video referred to the Indian nationals as tourists.

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud has denied allegations, saying what was claimed in the video was false, reported Free Malaysia Today.
