JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 38-year-old Indian national for allegedly stabbing his countryman after a drunken brawl in a house in Permas Jaya here.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the incident occurred after a misunderstanding between the two on Tuesday (May 12) at 7.09pm.
“Investigations revealed that both the suspect and the 36-year-old victim had been drinking before a heated argument began.
“The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, ” he said Wednesday (May 13).
He added that police recovered a knife allegedly used in the stabbing.
The victim is being treated at the Sultan Ismail Hospital.
Comm Ayob said checks revealed that the suspect was working here as a tailor.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
He urged those with information relating to the case to contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
